Message from the Faculty-in-Charge
Dear Delegates,

As we approach the 7th DPS Kolar MUN from June 20-22, 2025, I'm struck by how perfectly our theme "Digital Nexus" embodies what Model UN itself represents: the challenge of governing complex systems through dialogue, negotiation, and collective action.

The digital revolution has created unprecedented opportunities along with profound disruptions. Technologies that connect us across continents also deepen divides between digital haves and have-nots. Platforms that amplify marginalized voices also enable surveillance and manipulation. Algorithms that enhance efficiency also encode biases and evade accountability. These paradoxes will confront you in every committee, from junior delegates debating digital education access to senior delegates tackling AI governance and cyber warfare.

Having guided DPS Kolar's MUN program for years, I've watched countless students undergo remarkable transformations through this experience. You enter focused on winning debates and leave understanding that real diplomatic victory lies in building bridges and finding workable solutions. This perspective is particularly crucial for the technology challenges you'll tackle—issues where binary thinking and political polarization have too often replaced nuanced governance approaches.

For first-time delegates, embrace this opportunity to develop skills that no classroom can fully teach: adapting quickly to new information, persuading without alienating, and finding common ground amid competing interests. For returning delegates, challenge yourselves to move beyond procedural expertise to true diplomatic artistry—crafting solutions that acknowledge technical constraints, respect differing values, and create genuine pathways to progress.

Remember that the best Model UN delegates are those who remain true to their country's positions while finding creative ways to advance collective interests. In our digital context, this means recognizing that technology governance requires both national autonomy and international cooperation, both innovation freedom and ethical guardrails, both competition and collaboration.

The organizing team has created a conference designed to stretch your intellectual and diplomatic capabilities. Now it's your turn to bring these committees to life with your preparation, passion, and collaborative spirit.
